The Sierra Express Racing Team enters its thirteenth season in 2017 with 37 members who will race Road, Mountain, Enduro, and Cyclocross events throughout Northern California. The team includes junior, elite, and masters racers residing in the foothills of California near Nevada City. The Sierra Express Racing Team includes and supports top-level racers Duane Strawser, Chuck Ross, and Chris Thibodeau.
The Sierra Express Racing Team originally formed from Jim Rogers and Ron Miller racing in 1980. The two created the Tour of Nevada City Bicycle Shop to equip their team, and that shop, now owned by Duane and Connie Strawser, resurrected the Sierra Express Racing Team in 2005. Local enthusiasts such as Body Logic Physical Therapy funded the team, and in 2008 the event transportation firm SHO-AIR came on board as primary sponsor.
